Loctite AA 3211 is a Single Component, Medium Thixotropic Acrylic Adhesive Designed for Bonding Polycarbonate to itself
Loctite AA 3211 is a single component, medium thixotropic acrylic material formulated for bonding polycarbonate to itself while not inducing stress cracking under typical mold levels. The advance product will cure quickly to form a flexible, transparent bond when exposed to UV or visible light of sufficient irradiance. The thixotropic nature of Loctite AA 3211 reduces the migration of the liquid when it is applied. Once cured, the material will enhance load bearing and shock absorbing characteristics of the bond area.
Loctite 3211 appearance is transparent to slightly hazy liquid. Specific gravity of the uncured material is 1.13 at 25°C and the flash point is 86°C. Viscosity is between 8,000 to 14,500 cP. Curing can be obtained by exposure to UV and/or visible light of adequate intensity. Full cure on substrates exposed to air requires radiation at 220 to 260 nm. Speed of cure is determined upon UV intensity, light source, spectral distribution, exposure time and the light transmittance of the substrate. Incompatible materials to Loctite 3211 include strong oxidizing agents, acids, bases, free radical initiators, water, humid air and heavy metals.
Cured at 30 mW/cm° at 365 nm for 80 seconds using a glass filtered metal halide light source, Henkel Loctite 3211 has a shore hardness, Durometer D of 51. On the refractive index the material is a 1.5 and elongation at break is 260% per ISO 527-3. Water absorption is 2.72% when boiled for 2 hours. Dielectric Constant/Dissipation Factor for 100 Hz is 5.69/0.04. Volume breakdown strength is 24 kV/mm. When applying, the product should be dispensed from applicators with black feedlines. The material is light sensitive, so exposure to daylight and UV light needs to be kept at a minimum. For optimal performance, all areas that need to be bonded should be thoroughly cleaned before applying.

Recommended intensity for cure in bondline is 5 mW/cm² minimum with an exposure time of 4 to 5 times the fixture time at the same intensity. When curing exposed surfaces, a higher intensity UV of 100mW/cm² is required. Reading and fully understanding the Loctite AA 3211 MSDS is strongly recommended before using. Optimal storage is between 8 to 21°C, anything above or below those temperatures may affect the properties of the material. Product removed from the container should never be returned because it may be contaminated.
