Elantas Conathane EN-2550 Polyurethane Resin System
Elantas Conathane EN 2550 has been designed for encapsulating or potting electronic devices, as well as casting high-voltage transformers. This two-part polyurethane resin system displays good working life, minimum processing hazards, and great handling properties at room temperature. Without forming voids, Elantas Conathane EN 2550 can be cured at elevated or room temperatures. This resin system exhibits low shrinkage, great electrical properties, low exotherm, and low stress during cure. Once cured, the compound has excellent resistance to thermal shock, as well as water.
The Elantas Conathane EN-2550 Resin System is available in black, blue, and tan, and its hardness, shore D is 65. Its tensile strength, psi is 1805, and its elongation is 32%. The tear strength, pli is 235, and its thermal shock, 10 cycles, -65°C to 130°C passes. The linear shrinkage of Elantas Conathane EN-2550 Resin System is .58%, and the linear thermal expansion, in./in./ °C is 16.3 x 10-5. The thermal conductivity, cal/sec/cm2/°C/cm is 8.0 x 10-4. Water absorption is 0.0747% in a 24-hour immersion, and 0.1877% in a 7-day immersion.
Before cure, Part A of the Elantas Conathane EN-2550 Polyurethane Resin System is dark brown in color, and Part B can be black, blue, or tan. The Viscosity @ 25°C, cps of Part A is 150, and Part B is 17,000. The specific gravity of Part A is 1.23 and of Part B is 1.52. The solids content of Part A and Part B is 100%. Any casting engineered with Elantas Conathane EN-2550 Polyurethane Resin System will have exceptional resistance to mild acids and bases, salt water, and to all aliphatic hydrocarbons. Castings will not be resistant to chlorinated hydrocarbons, aromatic, or oxygenated solvents. Additional technical data can be found on the Elantas Conathane EN-2550 Resin System TDS.
When mixing the two components of Elantas Conathane EN-2550 together, a glass or metal container should be used along with a glass or metal stirrer. Once the materials have been properly mixed, the blend can be degassed at room temperature to 60°C at 1 to 5 mm Hg vacuum. During this process, any container or material that makes it possible for water to be introduced into the system should be avoided.
