3M DP420 Black Epoxy Adhesive is a two component material that offers outstanding sheer and peel adhesion.

3M DP420 is a two component, high performance epoxy adhesive offering excellent shear and peel adhesion. This advance material has a very high level of durability and offers outstanding environmental performance. It has a low halogen content, offers controlled flow and is recognized as meeting the UL 94 HB (Underwriters Laboratory Horizontal Burn Flammability Test).

Approximate viscosity of the base is 20,000-50,000 cP and accelerator viscosity is 8,000-14,000 cP at 23°C. 3M DP420 Black base is an epoxy an amine accelerator. Weight of the base is between 9.3 to 9.7 Lbs/Gallon. Mix ratio is 2:1. Work life at 23°C for 5 g mixed is 30 minutes, 10 g is 20 minutes and 20 g is 15 minutes. 3M DP420 Epoxy is black with a shore D Hardness of 75-80. Dielectric strength is 888 volts/mil and thermal conductivity is 0.104 (btu-ft./ft.² – hr – °F) at 45°C.

3M DP420 Epoxy Adhesive is supplied in duo-pak cartridges. The sizes range from 37 ml, 200 ml and 400 ml configurations. For optimal performance, mixing the proper ratio needs to be completed prior to application. Apply the adhesive to a dry, clean surface. Both the chemistry and surface structure of the two components being bonded play a significant role in determining the strength of the bond. Strength of the adhesive after 24 hours at room temperature is 4500 psi. Adhesive strength when heated for 60 minutes at 60°C is 4700 psi.
